The Dawn Awakens by Dorthe Hansen

11:00

Early morning - late autumn, sometimes you can be lucky to see the sun arise and throw glittery rays over the forest, maybe a deer jumps up, passing you and the ancient ruin. The birds start chatting and man and nature awakens. This is what I wanted with this creation.

I chose a MDF tag and covered it with gesso. After dried, the ruin was built using Hole in the Wall Dinky stencil (have you noticed I love it) and texture paste.

The different Bits and Pieces Greyboard - a deer, a snowflake, a beautiful leaf, were the next on my list.

The leaf went through an embossing folder to give it texture and then all of the greyboard was painted with Chestnut Brown, a little Green, Black and details were made with White –the deer got a layer of brown and white mixed to a lighter shade of brown and I painted the eye with black and white. I drew around the perimeter of the deer, with brown and black, to make it jump out of the background!!

After it had all dried, the beautiful Metallic Gold, gave the illusion of sun (snowflake) hitting the leaf and antlers.

I wanted a little bare tree and for that I used the Dinky Mask Tree on Kraft paper. It was after fussy-cut and Gel Medium smeared over the trunk and branches. Tree-texture was made with a tooth stick. When dried, I used Chestnut Brown mixed with white, to give the idea of a half dead tree.

After the brick wall had dried, I thinned Teal Paint with water and gave the tag a thin layer, only to get the illusion of air. The brick wall I painted with several layers of Walnut ink, until I was satisfied.

The beautiful birds from Lynne’s Affirmation Set 3 and half a sentence from Set 6, were both stamped – the birds directly onto the tag and the text onto a piece of old paper.

Everything was added with the Multi Purpose Craft Adhesive and a little found branch gave the birds a place to rest. I love splashes and added a little, dipping a brush into the rest of very thinned Chestnut Brown and tapping the brush, to deliver beautiful splashes.

A little found moss and tiny cones were put on the forest floor and a piece of brown seam binding to the top, were added and my tag is finished.
