Hi there, I have another Christmas card to share this week using a Stampendous bird stamp which is not actually a Christmas one but as you’ll see, he looks very cute turned into a robin. I’ve also used another piece of my snowflake masterboard paper that I shared back in August so I’ll add the materials here and there will be a link to find out how I made it.

 

You Will Need: 

Stampendous Cling Stamp – Minuet Bird 

Tim Holtz Mini Holidays Set 4 – For the sentiment

Archival Coffee Ink

Smooth Stamping Card

Kraft Card Blank or make your own

Scrap of Olive Green Paper

Coloured Pencils

Snowflake Paper  

Stampendous Creative Palette or similar

Distress Inks – I used Antique Linen, Tattered Rose, Spun Sugar and Milled Lavender

Water Mister

Watercolour Paper 
 

For Stamping Paper:
 

Distress Ink – Pumice Stone

Brilliance Ink – Pearlescent Olive

VersaMagic Ink – Malted Mauve

·       Once you’ve made the paper, cut a piece to partly cover your card blank. Distress the edges and stick on.

 

·       Stamp the minuet bird on stamping card with the coffee ink. Colour with pencils and trim to a panel. Add the panel to an olive green mat.

 

·       Next stamp the sentiment on stamping card also with the coffee ink and cut out the words separately. I did this to make it fit more neatly on my card but you may not need to do this if you choose a different shape card blank.

 

·       Assemble all the elements on your card blank and you’re done. How easy is that! It just goes to show that if you take a little time to make a batch of background paper, you can knock up quite a few cards rather quickly, just what you need at Christmas.

Summer in a Box by Carol Fox

I have another Gelli project for you today, this time decorating a wooden box.

 

To start I removed all the hardware from my and gave it a coat of gesso. I then put 3 small spots of paint onto my Gelli Plate and brayered to mix until they had covered the surface of my plate.

 

I now pressed my box onto the painty Gelli Plate, lifting it and turning to press the top and sides onto the plate in turn. If you have the A4 sized plate you can get all the sides covered in one go, if you have a smaller one you will need to re-apply the paint to get all your boxed covered. The gesso will be slightly visible and give a crackled and aged appearance to your box.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The paint is sucked into the gesso and dries very quickly and gives a muted shade of the paint which is a nice tone to stamp onto.

 

I applied black acrylic paint to the edges of the box to give it a border and then sealed it with Glossy Glue and Seal and let this dry thoroughly.

 

 

 

I used Black Archival ink and stamped my images directly onto my box, masking as necessary. I gave it another coat of glue and seal.

 

I replaced the hardware onto the box.

A Friend For Jolly Robin by Alison Hall

I love Crafty Individuals cute Alice Palace Designs Jolly Robin stamp, & decided he needed a friend.

 

Here's what I used...

and here's what I did...

 

1. First I used the Archival ink to stamp Jolly Robin on a piece of white card, leaving enough room for another robin on the right hand side.

 

2. I stamped the robin on some white tissue stock, painted him with watered down Media acrylics, then tore around the robin, the stars & snowflakes above him, & his base. I then used matte medium to glue him onto the card with my original stamped image, brushing the medium over the top also, so the tissue edges would blend out.

 

3. I then used the Media acrylic paints to watercolour the rest of the image, as shown. I mixed a little Cyan with Yellow to get the green for the trees. 

 

4. I trimmed the image then matted it onto layers of black & red card, then onto an A6 white card. To get the red card to match, I cut out my mat, then sponged the edges with the Media Primary Magenta acrylic.

 

5. I finished by using a fine black pen to define the outlines of Jolly Robin's friend.

 

The Media acrylics are great for water colouring, as they are already fluid. The colours are beautiful & intense, and a tiny blob of paint goes a very long way.

‘tis the start of all  things festive. Here’s my first Christmas inspired card for this year.

 

Mandy’s Must-haves ~ these are the items I always use in my projects

·       Cut your background white card very slightly smaller than your card blank.

 

·       Spray the Pure Sunshine and Lime Green inks onto the background. Dry with a heat tool.

 

·       Using the clock stencil and the Vintage Photo Distress paints, stencil half the clock onto the right hand side of the card. I went on to add some of the cream acrylic through the stencil after moving it very slightly down the background. Add a bit of the cream acrylic to the background using some Cut and Dry. The paint blends the ink sprays together to create a lovely vintage background.

 

·       Leave to one side to completely dry.

 

·       Meanwhile, stamp your images out of the ‘Christmas Wish’ set of stamps. I chose to use the santa, the Dec 25^th  calendar page, the candy cane and the ticket. I stamped these out in black Archival ink. Blast with the heat tool and then colour with watercolours and your waterbrush.

 

·       Cut out your images once dry.

 

·       Take your background card and stamp the large ‘calop’ label onto the middle of your card using the grey StazOn.

 

·       Add your washi tape to the bottom of the card then position your stamped images onto the card, where you would like them to go and then glue with your Cosmic Shimmer Glue.

 

·       Add some stamping with the holly from the ‘Sleigh Bells’ set of stamps, around the edge of the card using the grey StazOn.

 

·       Edge the card with Distress paint in vintage photo and then with the grey StazOn. Once dry adhere to the card blank.

 

·       Stamp out the ‘Dear Santa’ words and glue onto your card.

This card is about putting together gelli prints, stencilled and painted papers (and paper scraps) from your stash in a pleasing combination. It's all too easy when you get a new stencil or paints to end up with piles of prints and papers which end up in a box or folder.

 

I actually started with the stamped faces, stamping several times in black archival ink on different scraps of sprayed and stencilled paper from my stash.  I cut them out and spent some time arranging them, deciding which ones went well together. Then I looked for a background.

 

I'd created a gelli print using the 12" x 12" Geometric Art Layers stencil on the 6" x 6" gelli plate.

I tend to grab whatever paint is to hand and don't always remember what colours I've used but I know the dark blue/black is Dina Wakley's Night.  

 

Once I had chosen  three faces, i cropped the print and I  stamped the mesh from Bitty Grunge along the bottom. I glued the faces down and I outlined them with white, yellow and olive green Neocolor II  pastels to lift them from the busy background. You could use any watercolour media, or even Promarkers.

 

The words (chopped up from different From the Past sentiments) were stamped onto off- cuts from my gelli print.

Sharing my final Halloween card.

 

SUPPLIES

Oxford Impressions –  Wicked (moon), Trick or Treat (girl, calendar, branch, Halloween, pumpkin, raven), Halloween Party (Trick or Treat, cat)

Distress Inks:- Spiced Marmalade and Walnut Stain

Ranger Rust Effect Vintage Photo Embossing Powder

Kraft Cardstock A4 

White Cardstock A4

Heat Gun

Water Mister

Idea-ology Ring Fastener

Silicone Glue

Craft Knife

Walnut Ink Crystals (substitute with Distress Stain or Re-inker in Walnut Stain)

Invisible Thread

Scrap of rusted fabric and stained lace rose

 

INSTRUCTIONS

Stain the Kraft cardstock the same as for the two previous Halloween cards I have shared here by applying dissolved Walnut Ink Crystals (or substitute) to the Kraft cardstock. Work with a very wet solution apply heat with the heat gun and at the same time, continually mist with water. Repeat this stage as often as you like.   
 

Tear two panels from the cardstock. Stamp branch, Trick or Treat, leaf and Halloween with Distress Inks. Mist with water and heat set. 
 

Abrade edges with blunt scissors (or Distress Tool) then apply Rust Effect embossing powder.

 

Prepare white and Kraft cardstock by staining white cardstock with dissolved walnut ink crystals and applying Distress Ink Spiced Marmalade to Kraft cardstock.

 

Stamp all elements with Distress Ink Walnut Stain, inking and distressing edges. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Create tall cardbase with white cardstock. Insert Ring Fastener to top corner. Attach moon with invisible thread and dangle from the Ring Fastener.

 

 

 

 

Assemble card, adhering some stamped elements with silicone glue.
